A New Player in AI Race: Saudi Crown Prince’s HUMAIN Initiative
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has launched HUMAIN, a new AI company under the Public Investment Fund (PIF), aiming to position Saudi Arabia as a global leader in artificial intelligence. The company will focus on developing cutting-edge AI technologies and expanding the broader AI ecosystem.
Chaired by the Crown Prince, HUMAIN will build advanced Arabic-language large language models (LLMs) and next-generation data centers and cloud infrastructure to support AI services. It also plans to enhance digital capabilities both locally and globally.
The initiative supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals of economic diversification, leveraging its strategic geographic location and youthful, tech-savvy population to attract AI investment and talent. The Kingdom recently ranked first globally in government AI strategy on the 2024 Global AI Index.
HUMAIN will play a key role in integrating AI across sectors like energy, healthcare, manufacturing, and finance, while also safeguarding intellectual property and promoting domestic innovation. The company seeks to create comprehensive digital economy solutions and become a hub for AI in the region.
