Educators Using AI Dedicate More Time to Students
According to a new survey published by the Walton Family Foundation and Gallup, around 60% of educators in the United States used artificial intelligence tools during the 2025–2026 academic year. Around two-thirds of teachers who used the technology said it helped reduce their administrative workload, allowing them to spend more time providing one-to-one support for pupils. Teachers most commonly use AI tools to prepare lesson materials, mark work and carry out administrative tasks, with chatbots and adaptive learning systems among their preferred tools.
The figures highlight a sharp rise in AI adoption compared with data from 2024, when only 18% of teachers reported using the technology. Demographic data show that educators aged 40–49 had the highest rate of AI use, at 67%, followed by those aged 50–59, at 63%. Usage stood at around 60% among teachers under 40, while the figure fell to 46% among those aged 60 and over.
