AI is taking hold in K-12 schools
AI has the potential to transform teaching and learning from preschool through the end of high school. Although some schools banned these tools over concerns of misuse following ChatGPT’s release in 2022, a study conducted in the U.S. found that nearly 60% of teachers use AI for lesson planning, parent communication, and grading. Studies show these tools save teachers nearly six hours a week, time they can reallocate to providing more detailed feedback and individualized instruction. When used within the right ethical framework and clear guidelines, AI can help shift education away from rote memorization toward fostering creativity and critical thinking, boosting student achievement.
