China Launches Family-School-Community Model to Boost Student Well-Being
The Chinese government is exploring a new, collaborative approach to education, aiming to implement a family-school-community cooperative system across primary and middle schools. This initiative, outlined in a recent work plan by 17 departments including the Ministry of Education, seeks to foster the healthy and happy development of students by enhancing cooperation among schools, families, and local communities.
The cooperative education model emphasizes the role of schools as central agents, supported by government leadership and coordination with various agencies and social organizations. Families are encouraged to cultivate positive home environments grounded in healthy and scientific educational principles, while schools are expected to guide family education, maintain open lines of communication, and actively engage parents and community members.
This approach targets prevalent issues like myopia, obesity, scoliosis, and mental health challenges among students, which require joint efforts from schools, families, and communities to address comprehensively. By uniting resources and fostering communication among all parties, the system aims to create a supportive network around students to promote their well-being and development.
