China to Implement Comprehensive Anti-Bullying Measures in Schools
China’s Ministry of Education has issued a directive requiring all primary and middle schools across the country to establish anti-bullying committees and initiate campaigns against campus bullying and violence.
According to the ministry’s announcement, these anti-bullying committees will be responsible for identifying acts of bullying and handling them in accordance with regulations. Schools are also tasked with formulating rules that define disciplinary measures and different types of bullying behaviors.
In addition, the ministry has stipulated that schools must establish an anti-bullying hotline and an email address. Each class is required to hold at least two anti-bullying sessions per semester, providing students with education on preventing bullying. Security cameras must be installed in corridors, rooftops, storage areas, and other similar locations.
Furthermore, school administrators and educators are instructed to improve their ability to detect and respond to school bullying through training programs for teachers, staff, and parents. Local education departments are also expected to develop guidelines to address campus bullying and violence.
