Kenya’da Öğretmenlere Zorunlu Lisans Sistemi Getiriliyor

The Teachers Service Commission of Kenya has announced that a mandatory licensing system will be introduced for all teachers in the country. Under the new regulation, teachers will be required to participate in continuous professional development programs and renew their teaching licenses every five years.

The new system will be based on the Teacher Professional Development program, and teachers will be required to complete this program in order to renew their licenses. Mitei, CEO of the Teachers Service Commission, stated that the teaching profession, like other professions, should be subject to a licensing system and that the five-year professional development process will serve as the basis for renewing teaching licenses. The new program will be delivered largely online, with only a limited number of face-to-face sessions. This is expected to make the program more accessible to teachers in different parts of the country.

The new licensing system is also expected to benefit Kenyan teachers who wish to work abroad. The Commission notes that the lack of internationally recognized professional credentials has created challenges for teachers seeking employment opportunities overseas.
