Strategic Partnership to Strengthen STEM Education in India

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) and Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) have signed a significant agreement aimed at strengthening STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) for students and supporting the professional development of teachers. Signed on 24 October, the agreement marks the first official STEM collaboration between KVS and any IIT.

The partnership, led by IIT Delhi’s Office of Academic Outreach and New Initiatives, aims to raise scientific awareness among students while enhancing teachers’ competencies in modern technological tools and innovative teaching methods.

Under the agreement, students and teachers from schools across the Delhi-NCR region will actively participate in IIT Delhi’s STEM initiatives and the Sci Tech Spins (STS) conference series. Academics and students from IIT Delhi will also visit KV schools to conduct scientific awareness sessions, demonstrating the real-world applications of concepts taught in classrooms. Teachers will receive guidance on integrating emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics and digital laboratory tools into their teaching practices.

The agreement also includes a feedback-based evaluation system to measure the impact of these programmes. Using the data collected, IIT Delhi will continuously refine and improve the structure of its activities. The project is expected to enhance students’ innovative thinking skills while helping teachers adapt to contemporary educational approaches.
