The U.S. Department of Education published a guide in October to help schools integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into their operations. This 74-page guide from the Department of Education provides schools with guidance on risk reduction, strategy development, and effective use of AI. The guide, which covers topics such as data privacy, accessibility, and risks associated with AI, emphasizes the gradual adoption of AI tools.
Pete Just, Project Director of the AI Thought Initiative, stated that this guide came at a very opportune time. Just noted that, as recently as six months ago, schools were trying to decide how to integrate AI, but recently, more in-depth discussions have taken place, and many schools have now started to develop policies. Just emphasized that school leaders should not develop implementation plans without fully understanding AI, and highlighted the importance of educators exploring AI themselves first.
