Global Reflections

How was property recognized in Palestine, how was it passed down across generations, and how did negotiation mechanisms shape property relations?

As part of Global Reflections series Institute Social is honored to welcome Dr. Adv. Ahmad Amara, an academic and lawyer at NYU Tel Aviv. In his talk, “Negotiation for Property Regimes in Palestine: A Historical Perspective” Dr. Adv. Amara will examine which regimes have governed property arrangements in Palestine over time, the key ruptures through which these regimes have been transformed, and how they continue to shape today’s legal, administrative, and political conditions. Tracing the trajectory from the Ottoman period to the British Mandate and through to the present, he will discuss—through concrete examples—how property regimes have been established and continually reconfigured through the interplay of law, politics, and asymmetric power relations.

We would be delighted to have you join us for this online discussion.
