Finland has the most Challenging Education System in the World

According to MastersDegree.net, Finland ranks first among the top ten most challenging education systems in the world. The study, which considered various factors such as the structure of the education system and higher education, reveals that Finland’s education system follows a 9-3-3 structure. This structure includes a mandatory nine-year primary education period, followed by three years of upper secondary education and a three-year higher education phase. In Finland, the most demanding examination is the Finnish Matriculation Examination, a comprehensive nationwide test administered upon the conclusion of high school. Successful completion of this examination qualifies students for further education at universities and other institutions of higher education. The objective of the exam is to evaluate the extent to which students have acquired the essential knowledge and skills throughout their high school education. Additionally, it assesses whether they have progressed in alignment with their educational objectives. Students in Finland’s demanding education system also struggle with high levels of stress. As per the data provided by MastersDegree.net, students in Finland encounter a higher prevalence of mental health issues compared to other adults in the country. Approximately 40% of female students and 28% of male students report feelings of depression or anxiety. The statistics also show that other countries with the most challenging education systems include South Korea, China, Taiwan, South Africa, and Russia. In South Korea, recognized for having one of the most demanding education systems, students reportedly study for about 16 hours a day to pass the university entrance exam, Suneung. Furthermore, Singapore, another country on the list, showcases an impressive 91% rate of tertiary education and a national IQ score of 105.9.
