AI Actor Tilly Norwood’s First Feature Film “Misaligned” Announced
UK-based studio Particle6 has officially confirmed its first AI-generated feature film, starring controversial AI “actor” Tilly Norwood. The film titled “Misaligned” follows an AI character who begins discovering her own desires and ambitions after being encouraged by a rogue bot. Alongside Norwood, the project will involve a hybrid production team of real writers, editors, and directors.
Norwood was introduced last year as the world’s first AI “actor” by Eline van der Velden, CEO of both Particle6 and AI “talent” studio Xicoia. The character drew strong backlash from Hollywood. Actors’ union SAG-AFTRA said Norwood was generated by software trained on real performers’ work, and argued this risks putting actors out of work and devaluing human artistry. Norwood also made her first music video appearance in March with the song “Take The Lead”.
In the press statement, van der Velden argued that AI can support high-end cinematic storytelling only with substantial human labor, skill, and time, and said the filmmakers who stand out in the years ahead will be those able to combine these new tools with traditional storytelling instincts. No release date has been announced for Misaligned; the project stands as one of the clearest examples yet of the ongoing debate over AI’s role in filmmaking, with both industry professionals and audiences watching closely to see how it might reshape cinematic storytelling.
