The EU’s risk-based approach to artificial intelligence regulation, defined by its AI Act, is increasingly influencing global standards. Under this approach, AI applications are regulated based on their level of risk. However, each country adapts the EUs framework differently: the US prefers voluntary and sector-specific rules, the UK is moving toward a centralized oversight system, Canada is focusing on high-impact systems, and China prioritizes security and state control.  Together, these diverse approaches reflect a global trend to balance AI innovation with proportional risk management, even as adoption and enforcement vary significantly by jurisdiction.
