Rumeysa Hafızoğlu

Rumeysa Hafızoğlu received her undergraduate degree from the Faculty of Theology and the Department of Sociology at Istanbul University. She completed her master’s degree at the same university with a thesis in the field of Quranic exegesis (tafsir) titled “The Dating of Quranic Verses in British Orientalism.” She completed her doctoral studies at Marmara University with a thesis in the field of sociology of religion titled “A Quantitative Field Study on the Perception of the Traditional Muslim Woman.” She also received training at the University of Jordan in Jordan and the University of Tripoli in Lebanon. Her research focuses on debates surrounding religion and secularization, as well as women, family, and demography; she continues to publish and conduct research in these areas. She currently serves as a researcher in the Social Research Unit at Institute Social.
