Rethinking Global Paradigms: Is a Decolonial Consensus Possible and Necessary in the 21st Century?

As part of Global Reflections series Institute Social is honored to welcome renowned philosopher, semiotician, decolonial theoretician and author Prof. Walter D. Mignolo from Duke University. In his talk, “Rethinking Global Paradigms: Is a Decolonial Consensus Possible and Necessary in the 21st Century?” Prof. Mignolo will explore the ways in which the supposedly “universal” knowledge and political paradigms of modernity are in fact shaped as a Western-centered colonial project, and how decolonial alternatives can be developed in which plural epistemologies coexist side by side.
